Margaret Blyth was a student at Iona from 1944 to 1946 and, during that time, developed an immensely strong connection with the school. She had a love of music, and The Blyth Performing Arts Centre is evidence of her passion for the performing arts. In addition to her estate providing this exceptional facility for our students, Margaret’s wish was to establish a scholarship fund to support students in their academic studies and foster their talents in the performing arts.
Margaret’s generosity allows the Iona College Trustees to award a two-year, $5,000 per year, scholarship to a student entering Year 12.
The successful recipient is a student who demonstrates Iona values in their actions, has shown commitment to the life of the College through their contributions to the Iona community and who aspires to make a difference. They have a passion for learning and strive to achieve their personal best with a focus on either academic excellence or developing exceptional talent in, and commitment to, the Performing Arts.
This year at our Senior Prize Giving the prestigious Margaret Blyth scholarship for 2023 was awarded to Yvette Scatchard.
Congratulations Yvette on this very special recognition for your contributions to College life.
