SCHOLARSHIPS
INTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The following scholarships are offered by Iona College and are only applicable to:
(a) Students who have accepted the offer of a place at the College,
(b) Current students, or
(c) Graduates of Iona College.
They cannot be used for the purpose of gaining entry to the College.
Entry Level Scholarships
Entry level scholarships will be awarded as a result of examinations held on Scholarship Day at Iona each year and will only be paid while the recipient is a student at Iona College. No student can be awarded more than one entry level scholarship.
The following students are eligible to sit the examinations:
Iona College Intermediate Scholarship
Value: $500.00 per annum
Tenure: Two years
Eligibility: Awarded to a student entering Iona in Year 7.
The IOGA Scholarship (Year 9)
Value: $2,000.00 per annum
Tenure: Five years
Eligibility: Awarded to a student entering Iona in Year 9. The student does not need to be the daughter of an Old Girl.
Music Scholarship (Year 9)
Value: $500.00 per annum
Tenure: Three years
Eligibility: Awarded to a student entering Iona in Year 9.
ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Sports Scholarships (Year 9)
Value: $1,000.00
Tenure: Funds available throughout their time at Iona
Eligibility: Awarded to students currently in Year 9 at Iona College.
Pipe Organ Tuition Scholarship (Music Students)
Value: Up to 10 half-hour lessons
Tenure: One year
Eligibility: Awarded to a student attending Iona College who have achieved Grade 5 on the piano.
Te Kowhai Scholarship (Junior Dux)
Value: $1,000.00
Tenure: One year - Funds available for Year 11 at Iona
Eligibility: Awarded to the Junior Dux in Year 10, who returns to Iona for Year 11.
Principal’s Scholarship (Year 12)
Value: $1,000.00
Tenure: One year - Funds available for Year 13 at Iona
Eligibility: Awarded to a student attending Iona in Year 12.
The Margaret Blyth Scholarship (Year 12)
Value: $5,000.00 per annum
Tenure: Two years
Purpose: To support students in their academic studies and foster their talents in the performing arts at Iona
Eligibility: Awarded to a student attending Iona in Year 11 for use in Year 12 and Year 13.
IOGA Emerging Talent Grant (Years 9 -13)
Value: $undisclosed
Tenure: One year
Purpose: To recognise emerging talent in any sporting, cultural or academic field - Click here for more details
Eligibility: Awarded to students attending Iona in Years 9 -13.
The Margaret Woodhouse Memorial Scholarship (School Graduate and beyond)
Value: Up to $10,000.00
Tenure: One year

The 1934 Edith Astall Music Scholarship (Intermediate)
Value: $1000.00
Tenure: One year
Eligibility: Available to students attending Iona in Year 7, to be awarded for use in Year 8. For a student who has shown the greatest love for, and commitment to, learning and performing classical music. In the first instance, it will be awarded to a pupil who studies an instrument, but voice could also be considered.
Purpose: The Scholarship will encourage Iona Girls to continue with their tuition and, in turn, enrich the Performing Arts at Iona.
Selection: Decided at the discretion of the Principal after communication with the Performing Arts Department. Supported by the Iona College Foundation.
Awarded: At Prize Giving

EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Several external scholarships are available that offer grants to assist students in their education. It is the parents’ responsibility to research and apply for any external scholarships. Such scholarships are only applicable when a student has accepted the offer of a place at Iona or is a current student and cannot be used for the purpose of gaining entry to the College.
