Once On This Island – A Truly Vibrant and Energetic Show

Iona College and Lindisfarne College teamed up to perform the Olivier Award-winning Once on This Island.

This professional collaboration between Iona College and Lindisfarne College was a greatly applauded production with 90 minutes of wonderful story-telling, smooth music and superb choreography.

The Tony award-winning Broadway show is based on a book by Lynn Ahrens, with music by Stephen Flaherty. In a classic Romeo and Juliet tale, the story centres around the love between Ti Moune, a young peasant girl and Daniel Beauxhomme, a descendant of wealthy French settlers.

The cast of 40 gave it their all, delivering emotionally charged performances laced with high energy dancing and stunning vocals. The actors were ably supported by another 40 in crew; many of whom worked tirelessly with the cast during the nine weeks of rehearsals.

A special thanks to: Directors, Kathy and William Atkin, on delivering a highly professional production, our Head of Technology, Kirsten Le Bon, and her team for their hard work and dedication in the costume department, Jane Atkinson who supported the girls throughout the production, Ms Sophie Follett, our NCEA Dance teacher, for her superb choreography and Ms Georgie Cole, our HOD Music, for her vocal coaching. And, to all supporting staff and volunteers from our Iona College and Lindisfarne College communities, thank you for your support in producing this outstanding musical theatre.
